Our Values, Thoughts and Feelings...

Being gamers ourselves we know what its like to be let down from over-hyped games and being struck with a pay 2 win business model after paying full price on release. Because of this Mahou Noir has created the below list of "core values" to ensure we deliver what we promise at a fair price.

Don't believe us? Then read our values and compare it against our catalogue of games.

"Core Values"

  • Universal pricing for all realms:

I've seen many examples where a game in one country costs 3 times the price in another. Even taking into account currency conversion and fluctuations this really shouldn't happen and we'll make sure that it doesn't happen with our games

  • Universal release date:

Why does one country get a game released before another? It may sounds like a joke but it does happen and we can't understand why. We aim to release our titles in all countries on the same day as long as there isn't a technical reason causing the delay.

  • Continued Support:

Long term support comes as standard, make use of our forums to let us know of any issues you are experiencing.

  • Reasonable Price for a Reasonable Product:

This is one of those subjects that companies really don't like talking about. At the end of the day the company has to make money to be able to develop and support their products but at the same time I've seen other companies charge insane prices for what they are providing. We'll be setting our prices at rates we concider fair and if you believe that we arn't being fair then do raise your concerns in the forums.

  • Early Access / Early Alpha - Beta Releases:

There are many games out there that have only been able to get the support they need through Alpha releases or crowdfunding. Minecraft is probably the most famous example on this topic and has released many updates up to its official release V1.0 and after. Expect similar support from Mahou Noir

"Thoughts and Feelings"

  • Pay 2 Win:

This is where a game is evenly balanced amongst those who are not paying a premium, however premium paying customers have an extremely unfair advantage. Examples of this is health regen, no reloading, unlimited ammo, overpowered weapons, radar showing enemy players etc.

  • Free 2 Play / Freemium:

"Free To Play" games have built up a pretty bad reputation over the years, and with good reasons. However we arn't against the concept of free to play and if we happen to be making a game that is well suited to being free2play we will work out the best course of action with the community.

  • Micro-transactions:

This generally applies to the "Free To Play" games as a source of revenue. If we decide to go down this route then we will work it out with the community to make it fair and worthwhile.

  • Fast Tracking:

By this we mean skipping player progression levels and unlocking hard to get items with no effort or by paying extra. This is often seen when pre-ordering games. I'm sure you've seen it yourselves, buy the "Ultra Deluxe Alpha X3" edition and your character is maxed out with all the unlocks/items. We feel that it's pointless even playing a game where everything is already done for you.

"Downloadable Content"

DLC is a great way to extend a games life, however this shouldn't interfere with essential updates.

  • DLC - Paid DLC:

We have no issues with charging for extra content, as long as the content doesn't break the game mechanics / gives an unfair advantage / and is a fair price for a fair amount of content.

  • DLC - Day 1 DLC:

This really shouldn't exist. You've just bought a game on day of release and you're missing content because it comes in the form of paid DLC. This isn't a good way to treat your fans, so don't expect this from us.

  • DLC - Overpriced DLC:

Just no. I've seen examples where you pay 3 times the cost of a brand new game just for a single item. Costs should be based on the time it takes to produce them, not what it gives the player.

  • DLC - Season Pass:

This is a fantastic way to extend a games life with new content while providing loyal fans with a discount. Expect this on our most popular games.
